Slovenian sport climber Janja Garnbret has been named one of the 30 most influential individuals under 30 in the field of sport and games in Europe by Forbes. The 23-year-old climber from Koroška, who last year also became an ambassador of Slovenian tourism, has once again found herself in the elite company of outstanding individuals who are shaping the future. Forbes nominated already in 2020 and she was also on the TIME100 Next 2021 list.

Since 2022, Janja Garnbret has also been an ambassador for Slovenian tourism. "The more I explored the world through climbing, the more I realised what Slovenia has to offer, not only in nature. What we call home often seems to me a hidden treasure. I like the way tourism is developing in Slovenia, especially with sustainability as a central pillar. I think that this is the real value of a destination and not just an ambition for a 'green label'. In particular, I think that the plan to eliminate plastic waste in tourism is an important step forward. This is one of the reasons why I am proud to support the ambition to raise the profile of Slovenia as a destination for world-class experiences."

In the meantime, the Slovenian Tourist Board has worked with this exceptional athlete to produce a number of inspiring stories, which can be read on www.slovenia.info. The latest is the story of her friendship with Tjaša Slemenšek, who is also a climber. Read also the story about Janja meeting chef Ana Roš for the first time and get inspired by her portrait
