20th Anniversary Celebration: Slovenia's EU Membership Milestone Honoured in Nova Gorica 🌟 Twenty years have passed since Slovenia joined the European Union. The national celebration took place on Thursday, May 9, in Nova Gorica, where Slovenian leaders reflected on the final moments leading up to the historic event on April 30, two decades prior. Throughout this transformative period, Slovenia has forged a success story in various areas, including tourism. ✔ ▶ Today, tourism contributes nearly 10% to the gross domestic product, with over 92,000 individuals employed in the sector, accounting for 10% of total employment. ▶ Over the last 20 years, the influx of foreign visitors has tripled, while overnight stays have surged by 2.6 and total tourist numbers by 3.7 times. ▶ The value of travel exports increased from €1.2 billion in 2004 to €3.24 billion in 2023. ▶ Tourism has made a key contribution to shaping the image of Slovenia on the European and global markets over the last two decades. Welcome to Ljubljana, airBaltic! 🤩 ✈ Today, a new route between Ljubljana and Riga was launched. Slovenia is awaiting new visitors with two weekly flights! 💚 This launch is one of the new routes introduced at Ljubljana Airport as part of a subsidy scheme by the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure designed to boost Slovenia's air connectivity. In anticipation of increased visits, the Slovenian Tourist Board hosted a dynamic workshop in Riga this March. 🌍 Spotlight on Slovenian Tourism in China! 🇨🇳 This week, from April 17th to 21st, a dynamic Slovenian economic delegation of over 60 members is in China, aiming to enhance collaborations between Slovenian enterprises and key Chinese stakeholders. As part of this significant visit, the Slovenian Tourist Board successfully conducted a tourism workshop on April 17th in Beijing, attended by over 40 Chinese travel agents and tour organizers. Slovenian tourism companies and destinations presented their offerings, including: Intercontinental Hotel Ljubljana, KNMtravel, Sava Group, Tourism Bled, Ljubljana Tourism, Brda Tourism, Happy Tours, Adventure Slovenia, Postojnska jama d.d. , Eupro Travel, Visdom Agency, and Turkish Airlines .
