The opening of the world's largest hunting observatory

On March 29, the world’s largest hunting observatory will open its doors. Located at Slovenia Eco Resort in the village of Godič, which lies in the picturesque surroundings of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the project is expected to attract a great number of tourists. The owners will apply the project for the entry into the Guinness Book of Records.

The 18 metre high (60 ft) and 150 ton heavy construction, made of 120 year old spruce wood from Pokljuka, can accommodate up to 120 people. Six people worked on the project for three months. They used two elevators for lifting the supporting structure from the ground and then a wooden object was added atop. 100 stairs will lead up to the top, passing four floors with four viewing terraces.

The idea came from the desire to create something unique, something that would also make the destination more recognizable and draw attention to green, active and healthy Slovenia.

The Hunting Observatory is expected to become a major tourist attraction, as it offers a great view of Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the surrounding area. At the same time, it demonstrates sustainable development and the technical cultural heritage, since it was made manually according to the old traditional carpentry practice

The entry into the Guinness Book of Records, if the technical check will confirm the suitability is expected to happen in March next year.
